Iran has formally submitted a complaint to the United Nations against the United Arab Emirates, accusing it of involvement in strikes on Iranian territory and demanding compensation for damages.
In a letter addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Iran’s Permanent Representative Saeed Iravani stated that the UAE’s “unlawful actions” entail international legal responsibility and require compensation for both material and non-material losses.
According to Tehran, recent strikes on its territory were launched from within the UAE during the escalation. In particular, Iran pointed to the Al Dhafra Air Base, a key hub hosting U.S. and allied forces, including advanced fighter jets and air defense systems. Iranian officials claim that attacks were carried out from this base, including strikes targeting the strategic Kharg Island.
In response, Iranian forces reportedly launched several retaliatory strikes on Al Dhafra Air Base, with the latest occurring on March 16. No significant damage to the facility has been reported.
Another facility, Al Minhad Air Base, was also allegedly involved, serving a secondary role by supporting refueling operations and coordinating strikes.
The United States and the UAE have issued restrained responses. Washington has avoided confirming launch locations, while Emirati officials have not acknowledged the use of their territory for the attacks.
Analysts note that the conflict appears to be shifting from direct military confrontation toward a diplomatic phase. дальнейшее развитие событий will depend on whether the parties can contain tensions through diplomacy or if the situation escalates further.
